Black Bean Hummus

Tools Used: Eco Chop, Bonmat, FRENCH PANTRY Tahitian Lime Oil, FRENCH Pantry Sel Gris Salt, Santoku Knife

Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic, peeled

  • 1 14-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling if desired (Tahitian Lime Oil)

  • 2 Tablespoons lime juice

  • 1 Tablespoon tahini

  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander seed

  • 3/4 FRENCH PANTRY Sel Gris Salt

  • 3 Tablespoons cilantro, chopped

    Directions

  • Fit food processor with steel blade attachment, close lid and turn on. Drop garlic through the feed tube of the food processor and allow to process until finely chopped. Open the food processor, and add beans, oil, lime juice, tahini, ground coriander and salt. process until smooth. Scrape sides, and cilantro and process to combine. Serve drizzled with additional oil if desired. Serve with baked Tahitian Lime Chips or pita chips.

    * A twist on the classic hummus recipe. I have also made this using the Eco Chop. It works well but it will not be as smooth as a food processor. You can find tahini in any grocery store, it is usually found near the peanut butter, or the Mediterranean food section. Tahini is a condiment made from ground hulled sesame. It can be served by itself or it is the major ingredient in hummus.
