Patriotic Hand Pies

bonCook tools used:

Perforated Baking Sheet, bonmat/Silpain, Roul'Pat, Beechwood Rolling Pin, Pastry Brush, Straight Star Cutters, Fluted Round Cutters

Ingredients

  • 1 (15-ounce) package pie crust dough, or hamade

  • 1 can cherry pie filling

  • 1 can blueberry pie filling

  • Milk or heavy whipping cream

  • Turbinado Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Place bonmat on Perforated Baking Sheet, or the Silpain Mat.

  3. Using the Beechwood Rolling Pin, roll pie crust dough on Roul'Pat.

  4. Cut shapes using the Round Dough Cutters. Place dough rounds on bonmat.

  5. Place 1-2 teaspoons of pie filling in the center of each round.

  6. Brush each edge of the rounds with milk or heavy whipping cream.

  7. Place another (same size) dough round on top of the filled round.

  8. Using a fork, crimp the edges to seal.

  9. Carefully brush the tops of the hand pies with milk or heavy whipping cream.

  10. Sprinkle with Turbinado Sugar.

  11. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

These are fun and easy to make, and make a grab and go festive treat.
