Play Dough Cookie
Tools used: Perforated Baking Sheet, Star Tray, Heat Resistant Spatula, Stainless Mixing Bowl, Mini Whisk
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Food Coloring
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Place Star Tray on the Perforated Baking Sheet.
Cream the sugar and the butter in a stand mixer until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla and mix until just combined.
Combine the flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar with the Mini Whisk. Add to the creamed mixture and combine.
Divide the dough into 3 bowls. Add food coloring-1 color per bowl. Mix well.
Take a small amount from each bowl and lightly mold into round balls and press into each well of the Star Tray.
Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool and unmold.
* This cookie recipe comes from a friend who made these for her children and mine too. It's the perfect cookie for children because any colors can be used for the occasion, they are simple to make, and they will have fun deciding what colors to use. The dough can also be made into round balls and baked on the Bonmat as well.
